The Power of “HELLO” : Is Your Future Success Sitting Right Next To You?

Whether you’re in a seminar room or flying business class, you never know how valuable to your business the person sitting next to you might be.

They could be your future business partner or mentor, or they might hold the exact knowledge you’ve been looking for.

Most people never find out, because they don’t bother to say hello. Just think how much social capital you might have left on the table, from not talking to your neighbors.

WHO YOU MEET IN FIRST CLASS

Whenever he is on an airplane in business class, Russell always makes an effort to say hello to the people around him.

One time Russell was flying first class from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles. He said hello to his neighbor, whose name was Vernon. It turns out that Vernon owns the largest water treatment plants in Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia. He is worth millions.

The two found out they have something in common. While Russell lives in Florida and Vernon lives in Singapore, both of them frequently travel to the other’s home base.

They agreed to go to lunch together next time Russell would be in Singapore. Russell decided he would make an effort to visit Vernon whenever he comes to Florida, as well.

Why? Because Vernon has plenty of resources, contacts and knowledge that Russell knows could benefit his business. Later on, they might do business together in some way, but that’s only going to happen if there’s a pre-existing relationship.

BUILD A REAL RELATIONSHIP

The mistake that many people make when business networking is they immediately ask for money, the first time they meet a stranger.

The problem with this approach is business deals rarely take place between careerists who don’t like each other. Whether it’s a joint venture, a mentorship or a straight sale, people are far more likely to do these deals with people they like.

Focus first on building a genuine friendship with your new business contact. Find a common interest, such as golfing, and then you’ll like each other.

Secondly, build respect. The other person must have respect of your knowledge or your credibility, especially if you’re going to be business partners.

Business relationships are exactly the same as personal relationships. There’s no shortcut to building them. It takes time and care, but it’s well worth it.

Marketing is one of the single most important things you need to do to succeed in the business world.
The problem?  It can use a lot of cash to make it work.  For an entrepreneur just getting started, marketing budgets can often be practically non-existent or fear of risking money in an unfamiliar endeavor make budget marketing appealing. Whatever the reasons these all may have a place in your marketing plan.
Fortunately, the age of the Internet has made it easier to run a full-scale marketing campaign with very little cost up front.  Here we’ve put together a list of ways you can utilize online marketing resources, often for free.  Yep, FREE!
Online Review Sites
Making sure your business is listed on online review sites is important. Not just for traffic and product sales, but for ensuring your online reputation stays positive.  The following sites are some of the most influential review sites out there.
Google My Business Page: Setting up a page here will get your business on Google Search, Maps and Google+, as well as allow customers to review your business. Local business reviews usually receive high rankings in the search results, giving you some great, and free results real estate.
Yelp:  Since it’s the biggest online review site, creating a Yelp listing is definitely worth it. It gets you in front of the site’s more than 140 million monthly users and, it’s free.
Yahoo: Yahoo offers local businesses the option to get a basic business listing in its directory.  Listings are incorporated with other of their products like reviews, maps, and events.  And yes, it’s free.
Social Media Marketing
Industry Groups:  Choose two or three groups in your business’ industry on Facebook and LinkedIn.  By offering advice and support, you help establish yourself as an expert in your field.  You can even take it a step further and create your own groups.  Eventually, these outlets will build your reputation and drive sales.
Facebook:  If you haven’t already signed up with social media platform, Facebook is probably one of the best places to start.  Since its inception, Facebook has been in the fore front of social media advancements and has developed and perfected a number of tools for small businesses.
Twitter:  This platform has proven to be a powerful, platform for immediate information.  By studying and following people in your industry or expertise, you will quickly learn, some dos and don’ts figure out the best way to use it, then set up your own feed and start to Tweet.
LinkedIn:  The fastest growing and most influential professional platform online, LinkedIn has done for Professional Media what Facebook did for Social Media.  Set up an account to meet, engage and, connect with other professionals about jobs, careers, and branding
YouTube:  Visual marketing, especially in the form of video, is still at the top when it comes marketing. With You Tube, this form is now more accessible.  Use it to tell a story, showcase your personality, or demonstrate a product without having to pay for ad time on TV.  You can be as casual or formal as you want, as long as you are ready to be on camera.
Monitor Brand Mentions:  It’s now easier to keep up with what’s happening.  Using a social listening tool like Social Mention to monitor and contribute to conversations happening in your industry will help you stay current on trends without having to spend every hour surfing postings.
Blogging:  In addition to your own blog, find other blogs and websites within your industry and create Guest posts.  Comment thoughtfully on blogs and then leave your website URL in the appropriate field, just be sure to use your real name or business name, not keyword-rich anchor text. Noticing others will get you noticed as well.
Installing a free social sharing plugin on your blog, like Share Buttons, makes it easy for your readers to share your posts and increase your audience.
Other Ways to Get Yourself Noticed
Hold free webinars on your site:  If you’ve researched this prospect before but decided it would be too expensive, consider some of these alternatives.  WordPress has a webinar plugin called WebinarIgnition, with a one-time cost of $97 for unlimited webinars with unlimited attendees.  Or, you can utilize your Facebook account and do a Facebook Live event.
Join Forums and Answer Questions:  These days there are multiple forums out there for just about anything.  Take the time to make meaningful contributions to conversions by providing real assistance to those posting the questions.  This will get the attention of other readers and make them more inclined find out more about you.  You can get started on sites like Quora, where real people are looking for answers to questions. Search the site for relevant questions you can answer intelligently.
HARO (Help A Reporter Out):  Sign up and get free PR by responding to relevant media queries.  This will turn into free mentions and links in publications like Huffington Post, Forbes more.
eBooks: Anyone can be an author and publish now.  Whether it’s about business or, choosing the best wine, you can create an eBook simply and for free. Just input your content into chapters using MS Word.  Add some images and links, edit, review and spell check.  Then save it as a PDF and you have an eBook. Post it on your website, blog or offer it in exchange for a person’s email address, aiding you in growing your email database.
By now you may be experiencing the feeling that the room is spinning out of control, knowing that there are so many options out there that you can implement.
Not to worry.  Look at the list and narrow it down to 2-3 options you are really excited about.  Start with the 1 you are most interested in, master it then check out the next two.  Once you have them under your belt, move on to a few more.

How To Get Your Sales Leads To Take Wing by Boosting Twitter User Engagement

Twitter is an effective platform for entrepreneurs that want to reach out and increase their online presence. But, these efforts don’t provide a lot of help if you can’t engage your followers.
Twitter user engagement directly impacts your ability to gain sales leads through this social media platform. Engagement refers to the number of followers, retweets, and messages you receive through your Twitter profile.
If you want to boost engagement, then take a moment to review these simple tips.
Shorten Your URL Links
Every entrepreneur should use a web-based program to shorten their URL links. Studies show that shorter URLs receive more clicks.
The programs that generate these shorter URLs also typically provide a method for tracking these links. You can see how many people followed the shortened URL.
Use Images in Your Tweets
Tweets that contain images receive more clicks and more retweets. If possible, all your tweets should contain an image.
If you’re sharing a link to a landing page or a web page that you own, you should set up Twitter cards. This allows Twitter to pull the featured image from your page and place it in the tweet.  I’m thinking of writing a post about the Twitter cards; if you are interested in learning more about these just leave a reply to this post below and let me know.
You can also upload photos for each tweet. It’s time-consuming, but it can help you get more retweets, clicks, and new followers.
Ask People to Retweet Your Tweets
Sometimes you just need to ask people to do exactly what you want them to do.
As my daddy used to tell me “…the worst they can do is say no”.  Ask people to retweet your tweets.
Including “RT” in your tweet can help you gain 10 times as many retweets. On average, including the word “retweet” in your tweet will result in 23 times as many re-tweets.
This only takes up a few characters of the space that you have available. Give it a try. Add “RT” to the end of all tweets moving forward.
Include Actionable Words in Your Tweet
Along with asking people to retweet your tweets, you should include actionable words. You may not have enough space to include a full call to action, but you can use actionable words to increase engagement. Examples of actionable words include:
  •  Download
  • Free trial
  • Subscribe
  • Learn more
  • Read now
  • Gain access
 Engage Your Twitter Followers
You should also drive engagement by being more engaging. You can include questions in your tweets, to encourage people to respond. This drive engagement and could result in more followers.
If you haven’t already, you should set Twitter to send email notifications when you receive a new message and when your Twitter tag is mentioned in another tweet.
You should respond to questions and comments as soon as possible. Even if the comment is unrelated to the products or services that you sell, you need to be active on social media. Respond when people talk to you.
Tweet Late at Night
The final tip for increasing user engagement on Twitter is to tweet late at night. These late-night tweets obtain about 10 times as many retweets as similar tweets sent during the day.
If you go to bed early, you can use a social media management platform to automate the release of your tweets and social media posts.
In the end, using Twitter to increase your online exposure depends more on quality than quantity. The number of followers that you have is less important than how engaged your followers are.
Focus on engagement by responding to tweets, asking questions, and using these other tips. Increasing your Twitter user engagement will help you boost the number of followers that you’ve got, along with helping to increase traffic from Twitter to your website.
